Astronauts have oxygen tanks similar to the ones used by deep sea divers, which allows them to breathe normally. But it is also important that they wear the right suit to keep their body in a pressurised environment.

Astronauts cannot breathe in space unless they carry their own oxygen tank with them and obviously have some kind of vessel to hold the gas.

In the case of the International Space Station, they can make their own oxygen by using energy from the solar arrays to split hydrogen and oxygen from water which is similar to the process of photosynthesis.
