LYMPH: Lymph is a clear, watery, sometimes yellowish fluid resembles blood plasma. It contains white blood cells and circulates in lymphatic system.
It circulates through body tissues and pick up fats, bacteria, certain proteins and other unwanted materials. Lymph plays an important role in the defense mechanism of the body.

  • Pale-white interstitial fluid removed from the tissues is called lymph.
  • It flows through lymphatic system comprising of lymph vessels.

◆ Functions of lymph -

  1. It drains excessive fluid from tissues
  2. It removes cell debris from the body
  3. It carries clear fluids back to blood
  4. It transports fat from intestine to liver
