The north pole of earth is a south-seeking pole of magnet i.e the geographic north of earth is a 'south' pole of a magnet so the north pole of (magnetic)needle of compass point's towards the geographic north.
So after a while (i.e attaining stability) compass needle will point towards the south pole of the magnet.

Hey dear
If you gonna put the magnetic compass near any kinda of magnet it will start showing the same direction where the magnet is kept means it will not show you the original direction and maybe you can lost your destination
