Pratap Singh I (About this soundpronunciation (help·info)) (9 May 1540 – 19 January 1597), popularly known as Maharana Pratap, was the 13th king of Mewar, a region in north-western India in the present-day state of Rajasthan.[3] He was titled as "Mewari Rana" and has been for his powerful resistance of his kingdom of Mewar from Mughal Emperor Akbar till his death in the year 1597.[4]
