Mahatma Gandhiji inspired me a lot with his own example of his life. He was a true gentleman. He had faults and deficiencies in his personal life. But he accepted them and corrected them.

He told lies. He realized it was a fault. He asked for a pardon. Then he never told a lie.

He was rejected badly by the white rulers during the British rule. He could have lived entire life for just his own family. But he chose to fight for Indians and for people under oppression.

Gandhiji invented a new weapon for political struggle: Non-violence and satyagraha. He was chosen as the man of the 20th Century.  He was truly selfless in not taking up the post of Prime Minister or President of India after 1947.

He wanted rural Indians to learn hygiene and sanitation.  He said that one should not say to others what one does not practice.  Practice before you Preach. He followed it totally.

He impressed the entire world with his character. He caused many other nations to fight for independence and achieve them too.  He respected women. He wanted women to learn education, be active in the society and be independent as necessary.

   He was a great man.
