Answer:
- Mahendra calls ghost or spirit as told by his cook, Iswaran, as a figment of his imagination.
- Even though he tells so, he himself becomes a victim of such imaginative beliefs.
- On one full moon night, he suddenly woke up to some faint sound.
- He initially thought it was a cat mellowing but then when he saw some form of a white image he was startled and gripped with fear.
- Everything that Iswaran was telling about spirits and ghosts came to his mind and disturbed him so much that he, in fact, got transferred from that place of work.

Answer:
When Mahendran woke up from his sleep on a full moon night, he heard a low moan by his window. At first, he thought it was a cat search for mice. However, he later felt that it was not the sound made by a cat. He slowly looked out of the window to find a dark cloudy form holding on tightly to a bundle. Mahendran started sweating profusely and fell back on to his pillow.
