mahesh got an increment of 12.5 in his salary.before the increment he used to donate 3 of his salary.after his increment he continued to donate 6% of his salary.if his monthly donate was increased by 1200, his new monthly salary is Rs 36000.

Let the previous monthly salary be Rs x.

New salary i.e after 12.5% increase = x + (12.5% of x)

= 112.5x ÷ 100 = Rs (1125x ÷ 1000)

He used to donate 3% of his previous salary.

∴ Previous donation = 3% of x = Rs (3x ÷ 100)    ...(1)

Now he donates 6% of his new salary = 6% of (1125x ÷ 1000)

= (6×1125x) ÷ (100×1000) = Rs (27x ÷ 40)             ...(2)

It is given that the difference in the present and previous donations = Rs 1200

∴ (2) - (1) = 1200

⇒ (27x ÷ 40) - (3x ÷ 100) = 1200

⇒ 27x - 12x = 480000

⇒ x = (480000) ÷ (15) = 32000

∴ His old salary was Rs 32000.

His new monthly salary is Rs (1125x ÷ 1000) = Rs (1125×32000 ÷ 1000)

= Rs 36000.
