The first year applicants of the National Benchmark Test (NBTs) are evaluated in higher education institutions.

NBTs were designed to measure the power of a writer to translate academic literacy, quantitative literacy and mathematical understanding to demand quarterly coursework.

The National Benchmark Test has three multiple exams, which are written in collective academic literacy and quantitative literacy (AQL) tests, and as a separate math test.
