29th March 1857-Barrackpore

Mangal Pande, a Brahmin sepoy,  refused to use the greased cartridge. When he was forced he flew up in rage and killed two english soldiers. He was arrested and later executed. This sparked revolts in Meerut, Oudh, Bareilly, Gwalior and other places in North and Central India.
