Public Distribution System(PDS) were launched by the government in India.
Food distributed through government regulated shops at cheaper price to poorer section, is known as PDS. These shops are now present in almost all the localities of villages, town, and cities. Ration shops are also know as Fair Price Shops which distribute foodgrains, sugar, kerosene oil for cooking. Such goods are sold to poorer sectio n at price lower than market price.
