Here are a few important traits of Ben Jordan to help you write his character sketch:
-little jolly man
-humorous
-bright and chirpy voice
Ben is surely a practical and a very big hypocrite in the play The Dear Departed. He is practical when he says that everyone has got to die some day. This shows that he is not at all mournful of the fact that Abel passed away. Ben called Abel Merry Weather 'the drunken old beggar ' because the latter had not paid the premium for his insurance. This meant that none of the family members would be able to get his insurance money. This angered and disgusted everyone in their family. This incidence shows that Ben was very logical, and very materialistic. He did not believe in the importance of relationships. (the idea can be continued based on one 's own study and perception.)

Ben Jordan is the husband of the younger Elizabeth. He has a chirpy voice and was jolly in nature. His character is to add humor in the drama. He constantly tries to adapt himself and stop creating humor for it was the day of mourning as he had lost his father-in-law. He appreciates the death of the grandfather as according to him a peaceful death is better than a worse life.
