Parliament is the supreme legislative body of India. The Indian Parliament comprises of the President and the two Houses - Rajya Sabha (Council of States) and Lok Sabha (House of the People). The President has the power to summon and prorogue either House of Parliament or to dissolve Lok Sabha.Lower House is important to convey voice of people where as Upper house is important to convey the voice of states as union or central government in a democratic country listening state and people is equally important though people represents nation that's why lower House is more powerful than upper housewas opened in January 1927 as the seat of the Imperial Legislative Council. Following the end of British rule in India, it was taken over by the Constituent Assembly, and then by the Indian Parliament once India's Constitution came into force in 1950.Although the parliament exercises many functions, the 3 major functions are:

The legislative function.

The financial function.

Providing and exercising control over the cabinet.Generally, a modern parliament has three functions: representing the electorate, making laws, and overseeing the government via hearings and inquiries.Legislature of the Union, which is called Parliament, consists of the President and two Houses, known as Council of States (Rajya Sabha) and House of the People (Lok Sabha). Each House has to meet within six months of its previous sitting. A joint sitting of two Houses can be held in certain cases.
