1. The British began education in India because of its need of clerks who can work for British government.

2. The Indian population was not permitted to appear for other exams of civil services.

3. The British education introduced teaching of English as a compulsory language.

4. Education for women was supported affecting existing social norms.

5. Education was not driven by religion affecting the existing cultural norms.

6. Education deviated from purely Indian to Anglo Indian education system.
