Dr. apj Abdul Kalam was the eleventh president of India.
He was elected as president in 2002.
He was born on 15th October 1931 in the village named Rameswaram in the state of Gujarat in a Tamil Muslim family.
He belongs to a very poor family.
Dr. APJ Abdul kalam use to sell news paper to continue his studies. His father Jainulabdeen was a boat owner and imam of a local mosque; his mother Ashiamma was a housewife. His father owned a ferry that took Hindu pilgrims back and forth between Rameswaram and the now uninhabited Dhanushkodi.
Kalam was the youngest of four brothers and one sister in his family.
His ancestors had been wealthy traders and landowners, with numerous properties and large tracts of land.
