Basically there are 3 cropping patterns prevalent in India
Kharif
Rabi
Ziad
Kharif crops are crops grown in rainy season
Rabi crops are grown in winter season
And ziad crops are grown between rainy and winter season.
Rabi require less water. Eg. Wheat gram peas millet lentils
Kharif require much water Eg. Chana etc
