Question :- In the figure

To find :-

  1. equation of perimeter of square.
  2. value of x.
  3. actual length.
  4. check the answer

Answer :-

Solution:

1. Equation:

   Perimeter of square = 4L

   or, 56 cm = 4 ( (x+4)cm )

   or, 56 cm = 4x + 16 cm

2. Value of x:

    or, 56 cm - 16 cm = 4x

    or, 40 cm = 4x

    or, \frac{40 cm}{4} = x

    or, 10 cm = x

3. Actual length = (x+4) cm

                            = (10+4) cm

                            = 14 cm

4. Verification:

    Perimeter of square = 4L

                                        = 4 × (14 cm)

                                        = 56 cm

Hence, it is verified.
