This day is celebrated to mark the sacrifices made by the Nirankari leader of Sikh community Baba Gurbachan Singh Maharaj who laid down his life to advocating the cause of unity, harmony and universal brotherhood on April 24, 1980. His contribution to the society is remarkable as he has done great work towards the noble cause of spreading the awareness about the importance of spiritual awakening in human’s life. In his lifetime, he travelled broadly within the country and also outside India to spread the message of love, peace and harmony. Baba Gurbachan was not only a spiritual person but was also a social reformer.
