Answer:

Manju had a loss of 10%

Step-by-step explanation:

C.P of 1 metre clothe = 40 rs

C.P of 10 metre of clothes = 10 x 40

                                            = 400 rs

S.P of 10 m of clothes = Rs 360

.*. It is a loss

Loss = C.P - S.P

        = 400 - 360

        = 40 rs

Loss % = Loss / C.P x 100

            = 40 /400 x 100

            = 1 / 10 x 100

            = 10 %

.*. Manju had a loss of 10%

Given data : Manju bought a piece of cloth at Rs 40 per metre. She sold 10 metres for Rs 360.

To find : Calculate her gain % or loss % ?

Solution : Manju bought a piece of cloth at Rs 40 per metre.

So Manju brought 10 meters cloth :

⟹ Cost price 10 meters cloth = 40 * 10

⟹ Cost price 10 meters cloth = Rs 400

According to given : selling price of 10 meters cloth is Rs 360. Here we know that selling price of cloth is less than cost price of cloth. Hence it loss

Now,

⟹ Loss = cost price - selling price

⟹ Loss = 400 - 360

⟹ Loss = Rs 40

Now, by formula of loss percent

⟹ Loss % = (loss/ cost price) * 100

⟹ Loss % = (40/400) * 100

⟹ Loss % = 1/10 * 100

⟹ Loss % = 10 %

Answer : Hence loss of Manju is 10 %. {(B) 10 % loss is answer}
