mannish looked out of his window and saw a group of pigeons and donkeys passing by. he counted all the legs of the pigeon and s donkeys and total number of legs were 66. total animals were 24 how many animals of each kind were there​

Then suppose the number of donkeys are x

and suppose the no. of pigeons are y.

Then total no. of legs of donkeys are 4x

total no. of legs of pigeons are 2y

total no. of animals are 24

so we get the following system of equations:

x + y = 24                                                                                                         ...(i)

4x + 2y = 66                                                                                                    ...(ii)

by elimination method we get,

 4x+ 2y =66

-2x - 2y =-48

2x = 18

x=9

substituting x = 9 in equ. (i)

9 + y = 24

y = 15

hence, no. of donkeys are 9

and no. of pigeons are 15
