here, Dimensions of the box= 30 X 20 X 6
T.S.A. of box =2( lb+lb+hl)
= 2(30X20+20X6+6X30)
=2(600+120+180)
=2X900=1800 cm2
we have to add 5 % of TSA of box that would be overlap....
then , the TSA of box =1800+ 5/100X1800
=1800+90
=1890 cm2
so, cost for one box = 1890x2/1000
= Rs.3.78
and the cost for 500 boxes=3.78X500
= Rs.1890

Solution:-

Length of each cardboard = 30 cm
Breadth of each cardboard = 20 cm
Height of the each cardboard = 6 cm

Total surface area = 2(LB + BH + HL)
⇒ 2(30*20 + 20*6 + 6*30)
⇒ 2(600 + 120 + 180)
⇒ 2*900
= 1800 cm²

Cardboard required for 1 box = 105 % of 1800
⇒ (1800*105)/100
⇒ 1890 cm²

Area of the cardboard required for making 500 boxes = 1890*500
= 945000 cm²

Cost of cardboard = Rs. 2 per 1000 sq cm
Total cost of cardboard used for making 500 boxes = (945000*2)/1000
= Rs. 1890

So, the total cost of making 500 cardboard boxes is Rs. 1890
