Greeks presence in Italy starts with migrations of the ancient Greek Diaspora in 8th century BC and continuing down the present time.  

Ethnic minority known Griko people who lived in Southern Italian areas of Calabria especially the peninsula of Salento within the old Magna Graecia region who speak a perfect dialect of Greek known as Griko.  

Believed to be remnants of the ancient and medieval Greek communities who had lived in south of Italy for decades.

Alongwith this group smaller number of excess migrants from Greece lives in Italy thus forming an expatriate community in the country.  

Nowadays many Greeks in South part of Italy follows Italian culture.

A large number of Byzantine Greek scholars, including lecturers, poets, humanists, printers, architects, scientists, artists, politicians and writers immigrated to Italy from Greece between 1203 to 1453, adn also after that till the 16th century due to the fall of Constantinopole.

This brought Renaissance hmanism in Italy, and revived Roman and Greek studies to a great extent.

The scholars decided to immigrate to Italy becuase their living conditions had become miserable in Greece, and they were seeing better prospects in Italy.
