the reasons are-
1. when European powersthe entire contents like North and South America , Africa, Australia, and Asia they needed to know about the the place, there climate, crops, mineral resources and about the people living there
2. descent scientific expedition consist of maps makers and others to explore the different parts of the world and prepare maps.
3. these teams fought their way into interiors of continents crossing mountain, deserts and rivers, fighting fighting local peoples to get the necessary information.
4.this information and the maps enable the colonial power to establish their rule over these areas and exploit their resources.
