At the start of the first decade of India's electoral politics did not have an opposition party. In First General elections in 1952, some of the vibrant and diverse parties had come as the opposition.

1. Within two-party systems, the opposition party keeps track of the mistakes, corruption and key malpractices done by the ruling party.
2. These parties make sure that ruling doesn't do any anti-democratic activities.
