नाताळ किंवा क्रिसमस हा एक प्रमुख ख्रिस्ती सण असून तो दरवर्षी मुख्यत्वे २५ डिसेंबर या दिवशी येशू ख्रिस्त यांचा जन्मदिन म्हणून जगभर साजरा केला जातो. काही ठिकाणी ह्या सणाऐवजी एपिफनी सण ६, ७ किंवा १९ जानेवारीला साजरा केला जातो.[३][४] ख्रिश्चन श्रद्धेनुसार नाताळ हा सण १२ दिवसांच्या 'ख्रिसमस्टाईड' नावाच्या पर्वाची सुरुवात करतो.[५] जवळपास इ.स. ३४५ वर्षांत त्या वेळच्या पोप पहिला ज्युलियसने ‘२५ डिसेंबर’ हा दिवस येशूंचा जन्मदिवस मानावा असा निर्णय घेतला.[६] त्या वेळेपासून नाताळ हा दिवस त्या तारखेला साजरा केला जाऊ लागला. जगाच्या बऱ्याच मोठ्या भागात हा सण मध्यरात्री साजरा केला जातो, तर काही ख्रिश्चन अनुयायी व काही ख्रिस्ती पंथ मात्र सायंकाळी हा सण साजरा करतात. भगवान येशूंच्या जन्माची सुवार्ता विशद करणाऱ्या मॅथ्यू आणि ल्यूक यांच्या ज्या कथा आहेत त्यामध्ये तसेच प्राचीन ख्रिस्ती लेखकांनी सुचविलेल्या तारखांमध्ये काही तफावत दिसून येते. सर्वात प्रथम इ.स.पू. ३३६ मध्ये रोम येथे ख्रिसमस हा सण साजरा झाला असे मानले जाते.

Christmas tree is an artificial pine tree which is decorated with lights, artificial stars, flowers, toys and bells all over it. It looks beautiful when the decoration is complete. Churches are decorated with lights during Christmas and people hang star lanterns outdoors to mark the onset of the festive season. All members of the family sit and pray together in praise of Jesus Christ.
Kids are especially enthusiastic about Christmas as they expect Santa Claus to visit them and bring gifts to their homes on the night of Christmas Eve and the early hours of Christmas day. Presents are placed under the Christmas tree which are wrapped in gift boxes and opened on the day of Christmas.
Kids sing Christmas carols like, “Jingle Bell, Jingle Bell, Jingle all the way” and perform various skits celebrating the auspicious day. Christmas is a festival which is cherished by people from all faiths and religions. It reminds us of the importance of sharing, exchanging gifts and living in peace and harmony with our family and friends.”
