Answer:
If your family are anything like mine Larry then I haven’t found any cold temperature when at least one of them wants to go on the beach yet. They do tend to think there isn’t such a thing as bad weather just bad clothing.
We have been on a Northumberland beach in February when it was covered in several inches of snow: that is a surreal experience particularly when someone has already built a fine snowman. The evening before saw our daughters youngest standing fishing off the harbour wall in the dark with the temperature hovering over zero degrees centigrade. With him there was always the ‘just a last cast’ plea but this time he had to pack up as he caught a fish and a seal took it and all of his line whizzing out to sea until it eventually snapped off the end. His mom and I were very thankful of that seal.
Our daughter will go rock pooling whenever she can and she is just over 50 now.
We have also been on the beach and in the water when it was in the high 30’s C on Honeymoon Island in Florida, so for our family, or at least some of it, they will happily go on a beach in any temperature within the survivable range. It is me who is a bit ‘nesh’ (a good old Yorkshire word for timid or scared).
