It is not wrong to say that everyone who came in contact with griffin suffered. but this is not the case with marvel. marvel was a tramp and was homeless and jobless. he survived mainly on the charity given to him.
griffin used him as a "visible" partner in establishing a reign of terror. he stole money from many people and the money used to accumulate in griffin's pockets. so, when marvel escaped frm the clutches of griffin, he was blessed as he had the 3 volumes containing the secret of invisibility as well as the money. as it couldn't b claimed whose money it was therefore marvel was allowed to keep the money. he became rich overnight. therefore marvel considered himself lucky at the end of the story to be a part of the "invisible man"theory.

Mr. Thomas Marvel was a short, fat tramp with a shabby hat, charity boots, battered clothes and homeless lifestyle. He did everything in a leisurely manner, meaning that he was lazy. Griffin makes him his accomplice, even though he himself considered him stupid and good-for-nothing, no one else being available. Marvel is basically a coward and is unable to stand up to Griffin. He becomes Griffin's partner in crime but cheats him ultimately.

Marvel is an opportunistic person. When he first gets a chance, he tries to sneak away from Griffin, but fails. The second time he manages to run away with all Griffin's money and his three books. Marvel, however is clever, because he gets himself arrested so that he can escape Griffin, who is after him. Moreover, he kept the three books for himself in the hope of solving their mystery, although this was an act of foolishness. Thus, he is the only one who benefits or gains from Griffin.
