Mass of an object is a measure of it's inertia . What does it mean?
Answers
Mass and Weight
The mass of an object is a fundamental property of the object; a numerical measure of its inertia; a fundamental measure of the amount of matter in the object. Definitions of mass often seem circular because it is such a fundamental quantity that it is hard to define in terms of something else. All mechanical quantities can be defined in terms of mass, length, and time. The usual symbol for mass is m and its SI unit is the kilogram. While the mass is normally considered to be an unchanging property of an object, at speeds approaching the speed of light one must consider the increase in the relativistic mass.
The weight of an object is the force of gravity on the object and may be defined as the mass times the acceleration of gravity, w = mg. Since the weight is a force, its SI unit is the newton. Density is mass/volume
Hope this will help you !!
hi mate, here is your answer
Explanation:
so it is clear that mass of an object is a measure of its inertia now what does it mean if a good question and for the answer to this question I will not go in very deep but will make you understand about the concept in an easy example so let's get started you can experience this statement in your daily life for example when you push a book I mean when you push only one book how much full does it take question mark the answer is very less force now keeping in mind that you have exerted this amount... come to the another side now when you push a pile of hundred books just keep in mind that you have to apply same force that is the amount of force which you have applied for pushing 1 book and the amount of force which you have applied for pushing hundred of book now what will you observe? you will observe that the the only book which you have post will be moved very easily but the 100 books which you have pushed applying the same force will hardly move why this happens because of inertia now what about inertia inertia is the tendency of the capability in easy words it is the capability of object of an object to change its state of Motion from rest or change its state of rest from Motion now we come to conclusion that the the inertia of 100 books is more because it hardly moves and the inertia of only one book is less as it moves easily so now we come to conclusion that if a mass of an object is more the inertia will be more I mean that the object will not move easily and if the mass of an object is less the inertia will also be less I mean that the object will move very easily so we can say that the mass of an object is nothing but is the measure of inertia
