Given:

Mass of object on Earth = 60kg

To Find:

  1. Mass of the same object on moon
  2. Mass of the weight of the object on moon

Method:

  • We know that mass of the object does not change and remains same everywhere.

Therefore,

Since mass of the object on Earth = 60kg

So, mass of the object on moon = 60kg

To find:

Weight of the object on Earth and Moon

  • We know that weight is a force

Force = mass × acceleration

Here,

the force is 'weight', and accceleration is 'acceleration due to gravity (g)'

So,

Weight = mass × acceleration due to gravity

OR

W = m × g

Mass on Earth = 60kg

Acceleartion due to gravity on Earth = 9.8m/s²

So,

Weight on earth = 60 × 9.8

= 588 N

Now,

  • We know that weight of the object on moon is 1/6 on that of the earth

Hence,

Weight of the object on moon = Weight of object on Earth ÷ 6

588/6 = 98 N

Answer:

∴ Mass of the boject on Moon = 60 kg

∴ Weight of object on Earth = 588 N

∴ Weight of object on moon = 98 N
