Given info : Mass of the Jupitar is close to 2 x 10^27 kg while its radius is nearly 70000 km.

To find : The value of acceleration due to gravity on the surface of Jupiter is...

solution : let a body of mass m is placed on the surface of Jupiter.

at equilibrium,

weight of Jupiter = gravitational force between mass and Jupiter

⇒mg = GMm/r²

⇒g = GM/r²

here M = 2 × 10^27 kg, r = 70,000 km = 7 × 10^7 m , G = 6.67 × 10^-11 Nm²/kg²

⇒g = (6.67 × 10^-11 × 2 × 10^27)/(7 × 10^7)²

= (13.34 × 10¹⁶)/(49 × 10¹⁴)

= 0.272 × 10² m/s²

= 27.2 m/s²

Therefore the acceleration due to gravity on the surface of Jupiter is 27.2 m/s²
