Answer:

  1. This scientific theory, initially formulated by Matthias Schleiden and Theodor Schwann, proposed that all living organisms are composed of cells, and new cells are formed from pre-existing cells.
  2. Pickling is the process of preserving or expanding the lifespan of food by anaerobic fermentation in brine. When salting is used, most bacteria, fungi and other pathogenic organism cannot survive because of hypertonic nature of salt.
  3. Coughs and sneezes create respiratory droplets of variable size that spread respiratory viral infections. Because these droplets are forcefully expelled, they are dispersed in the environment and can be inhaled by a susceptible host.
  4. The cell was first discovered and named by Robert Hooke in 1665. He remarked that it looked strangely similar to cellula or small rooms which monks inhabited, thus deriving the name. However what Hooke actually saw was the dead cell walls of plant cells (cork) as it appeared under the microscope.
