Materials that get attracted to a magnet are called "Magnetic materials"
» Some magnetic materials are iron, cobalt, nickel etc. They are magnetic in their pure form.
» Materials which are not attracted towards magnet are called as paramagnetic or non magnetic materials. For example, Steel, plastic etc.
» Magnetic materials can be magnetised, that is, turned into magnet by rubbing it only in one direction. However, they are temporary.
» Magnet can lose their magnetism by :-
→ By throwing them from a height.
→ By hammering, magnetism can be lost.
→ By providing heat also magnetism is lost.
