Law of conservation of energy states that energy can neither be created nor destroyed but can be changed from on e form to another.
PROOF:
When an object starts falling from a mountain or from an inclined area. first it will attain potential energy as it is at some height. In this case the object will have higher potential energy and low kinetic energy(the body only started to move) and when the object reaches around the middle of the mountain the object will have equal kinetic energy as well as potential energy(it attained some speed as well as the height is reduced) and when the object reaches the bottom the object will have no potential energy(no height is involved) but will have higher kinetic energy.

From this we can understand that energy can neither be created nor destroyed but can change from one form to another(in this case = potential to kinetic energy)
