Answer:

7 sips

Step-by-step explanation:

Let the initial amount of water in the bottle be x

then

Sip 1;

Ramu drinks 115th of the water ie.

\frac{1}{115}*x=\frac{1}{115}x

The remaining amount is

x-0.008695652x = 0.991304348x

Sip 2;

Ramu drinks twice the amount in sip 1 which is

0.008695652x*2=0.017391304x

the remaining amount is

0.991304348x-0.017391304x=0.973913043x

Sip 3;

Ramu drinks twice the amount in sip 2 which is

[tex]0.017391304 x*2=0.034782609 x[/tex]

the remaining amount is

[tex]0.973913043 x-0.034782609x=0.939130435 x[/tex]

Sip 4;

Ramu drinks twice the amount in sip 3 which is

0.034782609  x*2=0.069565217  x

the remaining amount is

0.939130435  x-0.069565217  x=0.869565217  x

Sip 5;

Ramu drinks twice the amount in sip 4 which is

[tex]0.069565217   x*2=0.139130435 x[/tex]

the remaining amount is

[tex]0.869565217 x-0.139130435  x=0.730434783 x[/tex]

Sip 6;

Ramu drinks twice the amount in sip 5 which is

0.139130435    x*2=0.27826087  x

the remaining amount is

0.730434783  x-0.27826087  x=0.452173913  x

Sip 7;

He can drink  [tex]0.27826087      x*2=0.556521739 x[/tex]

which is more than the remaining amount.

therefore Ramu empties the bottle  in 7 sips
