GIVEN :

 \frac{x + 1 }{2x + 3} = \frac{3}{8}

TO FIND :

Value of x

SOLUTION :

Cross Multiply the numbers.

8(x + 1) = 3(2x + 3)

8x + 8 = 6x + 9

Transpose 6x into LHS and 8 into RHS

8x - 6x = 9 - 8

2x = 1

x = 1/2

VERIFICATION :

Substitute the value of 1/2 in place of x.

 \frac{x + 1 }{2x + 3} = \frac{3}{8}

 \frac{1/2 + 1 }{2((1/2) + 3} = \frac{3}{8}

 \frac{3/2 }{1 + 3} = \frac{3}{8}

 \frac{3/2 }{4} = \frac{3}{8}

 \frac{3 }{4 × 2} = \frac{3}{8}

 \frac{3 }{8} = \frac{3}{8}

Therefore, the value of x is 1/2.

Solution :-

Q: (x + 1)/(2x + 3) = 3/8

=> 8(x + 1) = 3(2x + 3)

=> 8x + 8 = 6x + 9

=> 8x - 6x = 9 - 8

=> 2x = 1

=> x = 1/2

Verification :

Substituting the value of x,

{(1/2 + 1)}/{(2 × 1/2 + 3)}

= {(1 + 2)/2}/{(1 + 3)}

= 3/(4 × 2)

= 3/8

Hence,

∴ The value of x = 1/2
