Answer:

36.

Step-by-step explanation:

Let the total number of employees be a^2.

Here,

Employees on the trip : twice the square root of total employees = 2√( a^2 ) = 2a

Half of total number of employees are in office : 1 / 2 of a^2 = a^2 / 2

Remaining employees : 6

Total number of employees = a^2

= > employees on trip + employees in office + remaining employees = a^2

= > 2a + ( a^2 / 2 ) + 6 = a^2

= > 2a + 6 = a^2 - a^2 / 2

= > 2a + 6 = a^2 / 2

= > 4a + 12 = a^2

= > a^2 - 4a - 12 = 0

= > a^2 - 6a + 2a - 12 = 0

= > a( a - 6 ) + 2( a - 6 ) = 0

= > ( a - 6 )( a + 2 ) = 0

= > a = 6 or - 2

= > a^2 = 36 or 4

= > a^2 = 36 { a ≠ 4, a > 6 in all cases }.
