Article 80 of the Constitution lays down the maximum strength of Rajya Sabha as 250, out of which 12 members are nominated by the President and 238 are representatives of the States and of the two Union Territories

The Rajya Sabha which is the upper house of the Parliament . Generally the membership is 250 , which is written in the constitution .
But at present the numbers of members in Rajya Sabha are 245 . In which 233 members are elected by the Vidhan Sabha . And our President can nominate 12 members from various fields like science , Arts , Flim , commerce , literature etc .
The Members of Rajya sabha has six years term . In which one-third members retires every two years .
