Mean of a class of 35 students in a mathematics class test was 15. A chance was given to improve marks of those students who score less than 8. 3 students scored 3, 5&6.when the test was again conducted after a remedial class they scored 7, 10, 12. What will be the new mean of the class

According to question

Initial mean = 15

Thus Total marks obtained = 3+5+6 +x
Thus

3+5+6+x / 35 = 15
14 + x = 525
    x = 511

Thus  New mean

Mean  = x +  7 + 10 + 12 / 35
    Mean = 511 + 29 / 35
      Mean = 15.42

Thus the mean will be 15.42
