Heya!!☺️

Isotopes are variants of a particular chemical element which differ in neutron number, and consequently in nucleon number. All isotopes of a given element have the same number of protons but different numbers of neutrons in each atom.

Thanks❣️

Isotopes are atoms of same element (can be 2 or more) having same atomic number but different mass number. It's clear that it's because of no. Of protons and no. Of neutrons. So we can also say that, isotopes are atoms which have same number of protons (atomic number) and different neutrons (since proton + neutron = mass number).

Examples of isotopes :- carbon-12 , carbon - 13 and carbon - 14

Uses of isotopes :-

• isotpe of iodine is used to cure goitre.

• isotope of Cobalt is used to treat cancer.
