Momentum is the power of motion of an object.

The product of velocity and mass is called the momentum. Momentum is denoted by ‘p’.

Therefore, momentum of the object = Mass x Velocity.

Or, p = m x v

Where, p = momentum, m = mass of the object and v = velocity of the object.

Momentum is the effect of motion...

If u throw a ball towards a wall with two diffrent speeds...you will find the object which is approaching wall with high speed will have more momentum than object with slow speed...Hence the effect of ball on the wall is different with diffrent speeds...and this effect is due to motion of ball so called Momentum imparted by ball on Wall....

Momentum is a measurable quantity and can by calculated by the product of Mass of object and its velocity.

Momentum is denoted by symbol P

Thus Momentum, P = m x v
Where m = Mass of object which is in motion
v = velocity of object

It is a vector quantity and its direction is along the direction of motion of object or along the direction of velocity.

Its S.I unit is Kgm/s or Ns(Newton second).
