The salt act prohibited Indians from collecting or selling salt. Every one had
to pay a tax on the purchase of salt. Gandhi Ji thought that defying a salt
tax would become a common cause for all sections of Indians as it was an
essential item and affected everybody.​

In the rule of Britain salt act was passed which was that no one (indians)can collect or sell the salt and Gandhi ji thought that it is a big misery for all indians because everyone have to pay salt tax
