government has provided many measures to protect consumers
◆ the consumer protection act (1986)
1.this helps consumers to safeguard themselves against defective goods, services, trade etc.
2.it has provided 3 tier redressal agencies:
● district forum
● state commission
● national commission
◆ the prevention of food adulteration act (1954)
=> this act was formed to ensure that there is no adulteration of food items such as oil.
◆ the trade mark act (1999)
=> it prevents the use of any fraud marks on products.
=> people should buy products with Agmark, hallmark, ISI mark etc to ensure quality of products.
◆ the competition act (2002)
=> this act allows healthy competition among producers which results in more choice to people.
