government has provided many measures to protect consumers

◆ the consumer protection act (1986)

1.this helps consumers to safeguard themselves against defective goods, services, trade etc.

2.it has provided 3 tier redressal agencies:
● district forum
● state commission
● national commission

◆ the prevention of food adulteration act (1954)

=> this act was formed to ensure that there is no adulteration of food items such as oil.

◆ the trade mark act (1999)

=> it prevents the use of any fraud marks on products.
=> people should buy products with Agmark, hallmark, ISI mark etc to ensure quality of products.

◆ the competition act (2002)

=> this act allows healthy competition among producers which results in more choice to people.

hope it helps you :)
