a distribution with an odd number of observations, the median value is the middle value. Advantage of themedian: The median is less affected by outliers and skewed data than themean, and is usually the preferred measure of central tendency when the distribution is not symmetrical. Answer:
As the median is calculated from the middle value, or the two given middle values, thus it is not affected by the remote values.
- The mid-value or the two mid-values determine the median. As such, an outlier's exact numerical value will not affect it directly. However, when an outlier is added or deleted, by just adding or removing one value, the median shifts to the new middle value.
