Given :

Median of the series = 80

The terms 38 , 66 , 93 and 96 misread as 83 , 88 , 39  and 69 .

To Find :

The correct median of the series = ?

Solution :

Since we know that the median of  given data is given as the entry falling in the middle of the set of arranged data .

So, on rearranging the terms correctly , i.e. in the right order we will again 80 as the median as the two terms falling on left of 80 were misread  and also two terms falling on right of 80 were misread .

Hence , the new median is also 80 .

Answer:

correct answer is 79.5

Step-by-step explanation:

N+1/2=80

N+1=160

N = 159

crt mean 38+66+93+96 = 203

misread mean 39+69+83+88 = 279

Total terms =159*80 =12720

correct total = 12720+203-279=12644

correct median=12644/159 =79.5
