Meena is backing 9 cakes for a bake sale .Tha cake recipe needs 3by 8 cup of sugar for each cake. How many cups of sugar will she need in all?​

Amount of sugar needed for 9 cakes = three-eighths * 9

3 * 9  =     18                                                                                                                           8   1   =      8

By deducting 8 every time we fill a cup.  

18 - 8= 10 (1 cup)

10 - 8= 2 (2nd cup)

third cup is two-eighths
