Question :-
- Meena wants to celebrate her birthday party by distributing samosas and pastries to her friends and classmates. She orders 65 samosas and 65 pastries for her birthday party. Samosa costs Rs.16 and pastry costs Rs. 35 . 12 more friends turn up for the party. If she has Rs. 4000 , will she have enough money left to order some more samosas and pastries for the extra guests ?
Concept :-
- First, we will multiply the amount of 1 samosa with 65 ( total no.of samosa ) then multiply the amount of 1 pastry with 65 ( total no.of samosa) to find the total amount used. Then we will subtract rs.4000 with the used amount to find the left over amount. At last, we will again multiply the amount of 1 samosa and 1 pastry with 12 ( no. of extra children ) then subtract the product from the left over amount.
Solution :-
= 4000 - ( 65 × 16 ) + ( 65 × 35 )
= 4000 - (1040 + 2275)
= 4000 - 3315
= Rs .685
Therefore, Rs.685 is left.
★ It's given that 12 more friends turn up for the party. So,
= 685 - ( 12 × 16) + ( 12 × 35)
= 685 - ( 192 + 420 )
= 685 - 612
= Rs.73
Therefore, she have enough money left to order some more samosas and pastry for the extra guests.
