EXPLANATION.

Let the age of meera's mother be = x years.

Let the age of meera's be = y years.

Meera's mother is 4 times as old as meera.

=> x = 4y ........(1)

After 5 years, her mother will be

three times as old as she will be then.

=> Let the present age of meera's mother

( x + 5 ) years.

=> Let the present age of meera's = ( y + 5 )

years.

=> ( x + 5 ) = 3 ( y + 5 )

=> x + 5 = 3y + 15

=> x - 3y = 10 ...... (2)

from equation (1) and (2) we get,

put the value of equation (1) in (2) we get,

=> 4y - 3y = 10

=> y = 10

put the value of y = 10 in equation (1)

we get,

=> x = 4(10)

=> x = 40 years.

Therefore,

present age of meera's mother = x = 40 years.

present age of meera's = y = 10 years.

Step-by-step explanation:

Let the present age of meera be x years and present age of merra's mother be y years.

  • It is given in the question that meera's mother is four times as old as Meera :]

y = 4x........(Equation [1])

After 5 years,

  • Age of meera = (x + 5) years.

  • Age of merra's mother = (y + 5) years.

(y + 5) = 3(x + 5)............(Equation [2])

Now, Putting equation (1) in equation (2) we get :

➳ 4x + 5 = 3x + 15

➳ 4x - 3x = 15 - 5

x = 10 years

Now, Putting the value of x = 10 in equation (1) we get :

➳ y = 4x

➳ y = 4(10)

y = 40 years

Therefore,

  • Present Age of meera = 10 years.

  • Present Age of merra's mother = 40 years.
