Let Sunitha be x years old

Meeta is x + 4

8 years later

Sunitha = x + 8

Meeta = x + 4 + 8 = x + 12

Solve x:

Their sum will be 3 times their present age

(x + 8) + (x + 12) = 3 [ ( x + (x + 4) ]

x + 8 + x + 12 = 3 (x + x + 4)

2x + 20 = 3(2x + 4)

2x + 20 = 6x + 12

4x = 8

x = 2

Find Meeta's age:

Meeta = x + 4 = 2 + 4 = 6

Answer: Meeta is 6 years old
