Heya!!

Here is your answer!!

Meiosis:

  • Also known as Reductional division of cell in which chromosome number becomes half.

  • In humans it occurs during gamete formation.

  • In meiosis, the nucleus divides twice and it has two stages : Meiosis 1 and Meiosis 2.

  • In Meiosis 1 ,their is reduction of chromosome to half whole in Meiosis 2 ,their is no reduction of chromosomes but sister chromatids separates.

Meiosis 1 involves 4 stages:

1.Prophase 1

which include stages like Leptotene ,Zygotene, Pachytene,Diplotene,Diakinesis.

2.Metaphase1

3.Anaphase1

4.Telophase1.

Meiosis 2 involves :

1.Prophase 2

2.Metaphase 2

3.Anaphase 2

4.Telophase 2

  • In plants ,meiosis is necessary to form a gametophytic plant body which is haploid and dominant.

  • Meiosis results in formation of 4 haploid cells.

Hope it helps u!!
