Melinda has a rectangular flower garden. The width of her garden is 5 feet. The length of the garden is 3 feet longer than the width. What is the area of Melinda’s garden?

60 feet is the perimeter.  

perimeter = w × l

60=5 × l

(divide both sides by 5)

L=12

the length is 12 feet
