Melodic Contour
Melodic contour refers to the direction and tonal movement of the melody. Some notes move
in an ascending or descending manner while other notes stay on the same level or move in a
repeated manner. When notes are moving up or down the staff without skipping a line or space,
the movement is said to be in a stepwise movement. When notes move in a wider distance going
up or down the staff, its movement is said to be in a skipwise movement. Study the different
